MODERN SPORTING RIFLE 3 - ADVANCED DEFENSIVE MSR
OVERVIEW
This eight-hour course, which requires completion of the MSR 2 course as a prerequisite, includes both classroom instruction and range time. Students will learn to use cover from various positions, including standing, kneeling, kneeling over the top, prone, and right- and left-side variations. Training includes engaging targets at varying distances using predictive and reactive sighting techniques, as well as remedial action drills for correcting malfunctions such as a failure to extract or double feed. Participants will practice facing drills to engage targets after turning 90 or 180 degrees. Consistent performance is developed through deliberate repetitions of all techniques, culminating in a stress course to reveal weaknesses under pressure. The course concludes with a qualification shoot to earn certification.
